AJ Margulis Interiors is a Pennington, New Jersey-based design studio whose sensibility is current and timeless. The ultimate goal of AJ Margulis Interiors is to create environments that are in keeping with your lifestyle and taste. Rooms that are fresh, stimulating, and will stand the test of time. Creative living spaces that are both beautiful and comfortable. Their approach is a true collaboration with you from start to finish to create a design scheme that brings your interior project to life. The finished look will be framed by our creative understanding and expertise while reflecting your taste. Whether you are drawn to a style that is contemporary, classic or country, or simply like comfortable eclectic spaces, they can create a look that is stunning. In two recent projects, AJ Margulis included Waterstone Faucets in the kitchen designs. For a kitchen project in Hopewell, New Jersey, the Towson Kitchen Faucet was chosen as an elegant complement to an amazing soapstone sink. The vintage-style farm sink features an embossed fox for a nice country feel. A matching Waterstone soap/lotion dispenser and side spray completed the Towson Faucet Suite. Another stand-out kitchen design was an expansion and renovation of a traditional interior. Located in Pennington, NJ, the home’s kitchen was expanded to open up access to other rooms and make it more functional. On the island sink, a Waterstone Traditional Pulldown Faucet was added as a centerpiece to this beautiful, traditional design. AJ also utilized a Waterstone Towson Bar Faucet and Filtration Faucet on the wet bar sink area. AJ Margulis is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science and a Fider Accredited Masters Degree in Interior Design. AJ spent 12 years working side by side with a well regarded, high-end designer in the Princeton area before opening her own shop. She has worked on several Designer Showhouses and independently with clients in the greater Princeton area, Bucks County, and the Jersey Shore. Whether you are looking to renovate, redesign and/or redecorate one room or an entire house, AJ Margulis will be happy to consult with you on your interior design project. Based in Pennington, NJ, AJ currently has projects in Princeton, NJ; Newtown, PA; and New York, NY. See contact information at the bottom of this page. Project – Hopewell, NJ A kitchen remodel that updated the layout and appearance of the original 1980’s space. The homeowners do a lot of cooking and entertaining so the space needed to be spacious enough for a crowd while still being comfortable for two. The use of natural materials such as soapstone and pine keep the kitchen feeling warm and current at the same time. Blackboard inserts on the cabinets for drawing and beautiful wall art are just a few creative touches. To create a more open and appealing floor plan, access to the kitchen was enhanced into three adjoining spaces. For this they turned to their favourite shop, Winterberry Lane that specializes in chic French décor and offers the exclusive design services of Designer Jackie Glass. Together Jackie and Winterberry Lane were able to achieve the look the couple had been dreaming of for their beautiful new kitchen. Inspired by the swirling mosaic border in the backsplash, Jackie started with her signature colour palette of classic neutral tones in warm white, soft blue and subtle cream. Introducing these soothing colours throughout the kitchen would help balance the high contrast between the white cabinetry and the dark-stained floors and add just the right touch of ooh-la-la charm to the space. The key to instantly translating the traditional tone of the space to a soft chic French style, the dull beige walls were painted in an intriguing gray/blue/green colour (Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray) that delightfully changes with the light, adding dimension and warmth day and night. Next, soft sheer linen blinds help diffuse the harsh sunlight that streams in through the south-facing windows and lend softness to the overall look. Finishes were carefully chosen by Cranberry Hill Kitchens. The durable Caesarstone (Dreamy Marfil) creamy white countertops work beautifully with the integrated round Corian-topped (Vanilla) dining table that sits on a uniquely shaped custom pedestal base. Corian was chosen over quartz to offer a softer touch to the dining surface. The clever mixing of surface materials gives the kitchen a uniqueness that transcends typical finishes and styles found in today’s kitchens. The white Franke Fireclay farm sink with antique-pewter pull down faucet by Waterstone Faucets define the French-country look while offering practicality and sophisticated style. A matching pot filler accents the tumbled stone backsplash over the stove, an addition that the owners didn’t think they needed but found they can’t live without! The enameled details and old-world styling and finish of the faucets add an authentic custom look to this elegant kitchen. In the dining area, the stunning wall-to-wall built-in china cabinet with glass-front doors, offer the owners a place to display treasured items along with tableware for everyday use in the kitchen and special occasions in the formal dining room that’s just off the kitchen. Interior lighting makes the contents sparkle. From Winterberry Lane, Jackie chose a set of gorgeous Louis IV dining chairs, dripping with French charm, upholstered in a soft cream/green/blue check (Kravet 1513) and a French-style, painted-iron chandelier for over the table to complete the look, creating a welcoming French-inspired kitchen that the homeowners have been longing for.
